In 2017 my wife and I drew a house. Every inch of it. The builder turned the drawings into walls on a street called Highmarker.

For seven years it held everything. The four of us on the couch for a game. Eighty people on the patio for our oldest daughter's graduation party. The small gatherings and the big ones. The kind of place built to hold both.

The morning she left for college, the four of us stood in the doorway. We hugged. None of us said it. We all knew it was the last time we'd truly live under one roof.

We drew the house. We framed it. It hangs in our hallway now.

    Questions.

    A clean photo of the front of the house, taken from the street or sidewalk. The angle and framing of your photo become the angle and framing of your print. Phone shots in daylight work great. Avoid heavy shadows across the front of the house and partial cars in the frame if you can.

    Most customers don't. Google Street View, old family photos, the listing photos from when it sold. Anything that shows the front of the house clearly will work. Send the best you have and we'll tell you honestly whether we can render it well.

    Plenty of people do. Empty-nester gifts, parents downsizing, housewarming, anniversary. The two lines of text under the drawing are yours to set. Many gift-givers use the family name and the years lived there, or the street name and the year built.
